Following my longtime inspiration, I was led to do something greater. Through embracing my work as a REALTOR® and my love for this community, I discovered a drive to do more.
I glanced up from the sidewalk and smiled at a familiar face. At that moment, I felt transported back to when we first met years earlier. He was one of many people I knew here in Charlotte who would forever be connected with me.
I was born and raised in Charlotte and graduated from South Meck in 1984. As a young man, I lived to have fun and did not often think about tomorrow. At the time, moving out against my parents’ wishes to go on adventures seemed like the best decision because I believed I was smarter than them.
Well, we know how that usually turns out. I was no exception. Things happened, and I was left without many choices. I moved into my parents’ house in Wadesboro, NC, cut my hair, removed my earring, and went to work as an hourly employee at this new store called Walmart.
I did a lot of growing up during that time and was able to recognize opportunities. I moved up quickly and was in management for two years. Within two weeks of being promoted, I found myself in the right place at the right time. While at the grand opening of a new store, I met the Senior VP of personnel and Sam Walton, who offered me a position with the Store Planning Division. For the next six years, I traveled the country setting up new stores, including the first Walmart store outside the continental United States in Fajardo, Puerto Rico.
While traveling around the country and opening new Walmart branches, I often spent my weekends in the nearest big city. I almost always ran into homeless people. Usually, I had a handful of one-dollar bills to hand out along the way. I felt a pull to the homeless because I recognized that I was only a loving mother and father away from sitting in their place.
My mother was the sweetest, most beautifully compassionate person I have ever known. She is 100% the inspiration behind my pull to do more for others. Faith has also always been a factor in my life. I was raised in the church and connected with it more as an adult. One day, it was as if my preacher was talking directly to me. I leaned into that pull toward the homeless and changed everything with one lunch invitation.
Rather than hand out a dollar, I invited someone to lunch. That one quickly grew to nine, then 20, then a huge group every Wednesday at Fuel Pizza. I brought in speakers, and we sang music. Many of the people there just needed a literal ticket out to where an opportunity was waiting for them. So, whenever I could help, I did.
Over the years, I got my children involved as well. The man I mentioned at the beginning was someone we will never forget. After lunch on Wednesday, he shared his journey with my children, including what led to him living under a bridge. Today, he has a home and a job. I feel so honored to have been a close witness to all he and others I have met have accomplished through the years.
I have been a licensed REALTOR® since 1999. For me, being a REALTOR® has been a way to connect with and help others on my own terms. Whenever I find something I want to do, I go all in. However, the decision must be mine. Real estate has always given me the freedom to be my own boss, connect with others, and build my own success. Best of all, the more I succeed, the more I can do in the community.
Whether you are purchasing or selling, I will help you consider all the factors of every property or offer. With buyers, I will account for resale factors as well as your needs and goals, so you will be in a great spot whether you sell five or 50 years down the road.
I am not a salesman. I will never sell you a house; instead, I will help you find the best home to suit your needs and benefit your future. I will always be honest with you and go above and beyond to help in any way I can. With my relationships with local vendors, I help my clients keep moving forward through every bump in the road. Due to my roots in this community, my clients receive priority from vendors, and I have every type of contact you can imagine. My relationships with other agents in the area will work to your advantage. I have extensive experience with residential and investment real estate. Once the transaction is closed, I will continue supporting your success as your lifelong REALTOR® and friend.
Sincerely,
Todd Brower
